Hi,
I'm not sure if this is just me, but sometimes I find myself forgetting to check the new mail link at the bottom of the login list. I'm thinking that it would be nice if there could be an alert as soon as you log in, similar to the alert you get if you've got a new voice mail. This could probably be an optional feature, but say you log in and you've gotten a new message from someone, it could say
You have a new message from Example_User (#9999) with subject "This is a test."
Click here to read this message.
And so on. Hopefully I've managed to make sense in this post, and assuming I have, what does everyone else think.
hmm, i'm not really against it, but i don't think it will be used much, you have the email notifications, when you are loged in and someone sends you a message, it tells you, and the fact you didon't check the mail link is your own problem
Well, if they have one for voice mail, why not for private mail. That's the way I see it.

Ok because I am a geek and am obsessed with the AOL sounds ha, the you've got mail sound sounds marvelous for a sound alert. lol.
It sounds like an interesting idea in one way, but ultimately not really necessary. Don't you get an email when someone sends you a PM? Like earlier today, I got an email in my Inbox that said, "You have new mail at the Zone BBS," so I knew to log in and check it. And if you're logged in and someone sends you a PM, it notifies you instantly.

i agree with that. there is already a message that notify you, that mail message will come in to the mailbox of the receiver of the private message. in the message is a hyperlink to view the private mail on the webpage
Well, true, it may not be necessary, but it's not a bad idea either.
that would be kind of cool. i logged in yesterday and didn't notice I had a private message until I checked the link. The thing is, I can't check email from my school because they block hotmail, for some reason.
